Has anyone seen the line up for this tour? Legendary!!!! I remember seeing LL Cool J for the first time back in 1985 during the Raising Hell Tour with opening act Beastie Boys, Whodini and headlining RUN-DMC. LL busted on the scene with a 10ft radio and his DJ Cut Creator sitting on top and of course E-Love to the side, radio in hand. Kings of the MIC is not to be missed.
Tickets are still available via the Stubbs website for a showing on Tuesday July 2nd. It's a steep $60 bucks but well worth the price of admission when you see the likes of.....
DJ Chuck Chillout
PUBLIC ENEMY
ICE CUBE
DE LA SOUL
LL Cool J w/ DJ Z-Trip
Any one going? Shout out and let me know if you're heading out, I may just have to join you.

Who is your favorite Native Tongue crew?
From the founding members, Jungle Brothers, A Tribe Called Quest, and De La Soul, they collectively brought back the concept of solidarity. Not since The Juice Crew, Hip Hop was basically about being an individual. Now hold on, I know a few people will bring up, "What about the Self Destruction Movement or the Same Gang Crew?" Not to take anything away from those groups but they were formed to create a single song. After that, they all went their own way. Not the same as what Native Tongue accomplished. Each group within the Native Tongue brought something to the table and contributed to each members success.
With today's episode, we just wanted to put something together and highlight some of our favorite Native Tongue joints. Keep in mind, this is just a small sample of what they did, we really could spend hours trying to put something together that would feature every part of the Native Tongue. "It's like a jungle sometimes it makes me wonder how I keep from going under....."
The words spoke like poetry. The thumping bass and hypnotic sounds complimented the vocals, which to me at the time sounded like someone just talking over music in a rhyming pattern.
"Broken glass everywhere.
People pissin' on the stairs, you know they just don't care.
I can't take the smell, I can't take the noise
Got no money to move out, I guess I got not choice..."
A story told that was so far from the life of a 10yr old kid living in a small town in South Texas, but for some reason, I was hooked. 30 years later and I still hold onto the passion, freshness and rawness of real hip hop.
Spinner T, along with myself, have decided to venture out and take you on a journey down hip hop history through our eyes. We'll take you from the early stages of rap in the 70s, into the fresh sounds of the 80s and into the gold era of 90s hip hop.
Please drop us a few words with feedback, song requests or just to support the cause.
